Music is not beyond politics
Tumblr media
The first Eurovision that I barely watch. In anticipation of the massive shelling by russia, I decided to go to bed early.
Tumblr media
Ukrainians are sleep-deprived always.
Tumblr media
Oh, Lithuania, we are voting for this boy, friends, we are all voting!! This boy has raised a lot of money for Ukraine
Cashback?)
Haha, yes!
Tumblr media
"GOOD EVENING COSSACKS
I remind you who we are NOT voting for."
She was wrong about Croatia.
And yes, to support someone, you need to follow what they say, because music is not outside of politics.
I make it more clear. This list doesn't represent the support of the country or the people as a whole. But about representatives themselves. Some of them are openly Russophiles. Netherlands and Germany especially. They write and perform songs with Russians or ❗even be in Russia after the start of full-scale war. Or they are russians like Israeli and Czech representatives.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a pity they didn't make it.
Tumblr media
Safe night everyone, except russia and russian supporters (China, Iran, and North Korea).
Tumblr media
My loving Ukrainians please be careful. Now already russian UAVs are flying to Kharkiv. React to air raid alarms. We all need you alive. Your life matters.

So today marks 50 years since that SHITSHOW in Cyprus got even worse than it already was!
I’m not gonna say much beyond that.
No doubt the Turkish government have put out some putrid triumphalist statement.
Ghastly stuff!
I’m saying this as someone who’s had their own country (Ireland) split in half.

For the average person, all problems date to World War II; for the more informed, to World War I; for the genuine historian, to the French Revolution.

Stańczyk by Jan Matejko (1862)
Tumblr media
Description from Britannica (author: Ann Kay)
Stańczyk, oil painting created in 1862 by Polish artist Jan Matejko. It is one of Matejko’s best known works and is an iconic image in Poland.
Historical painting has always been a vital thread in Polish art, and Matejko chronicled Polish history with a verve and romance that earned him a central place in his homeland’s artistic consciousness. Court jester to several Renaissance-era Polish kings, Stańczyk was said to be a man of extraordinary wisdom. Not afraid to wield his satirical wit to criticize those in power, he came to personify the fight for truth over hypocrisy and even Poland’s struggle for independence.
In this painting, Matejko has turned the jester into a symbol of his nation’s conscience. While a ball at the court of Queen Bona (wife of Sigismund I the Old) is in full swing, Stańczyk sits slumped in depression, having just discovered—presumably indicated by papers on the table—that the Polish city of Smolensk has been lost (1514) during war with Moscow. Seating him apart from the rest of the court emphasizes that only he foresees that the war will be disastrous for Poland.
Matejko’s characteristic theatricality and lighting make the painting appear like a scene from a play. The principal player, in a fanciful costume that highlights his seriousness by its contrast, is placed centrally in a spotlight. In the wings, we glimpse the bit players, while outside a window a comet falls portentously. The face is a self-portrait of Matejko himself, and the artist’s finely detailed style adds to the mood, picking out everything from the plushness of the drapes to the distant sparkle of a chandelier. For centuries Stańczyk featured in the work of an array of Polish artists and writers, but this striking image is the one that has endured.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR -
Ann Kay is a writer and editor with a degree in the history of art and literature at Kent University and a postgraduate qualification in graphic design from London University. She has also studied book design and jewelry-making. Her work appears in Encyclopaedia Britannica as part of a joint publishing agreement with the publisher of 1001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die and 1001 Amazing Places You Must See Before You Die, where the work originally appeared.

The blue MAGA mask fell off, how cute
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now blue MAGA wishes Gaza will be turned into a parking space… Funny that you had the nerve to say that Trump is a fascist, this fact makes you hypocrites
Tumblr media
Well, who expected that if you are aggressive, you will pay for it?
Apparently, teaching in Israel is so bad that they don't even know that every action has a consequence
Tumblr media
I love how the media ignores everything that came before (And their lack of respect for the victims, comparing it to Kristallnacht and the Pogroms, yes, I don't need to tell you how disgusting it is…)
By the way, all Arabs? Also the Jewish ones? Isn't this slightly ANTI-SEMItic?

seeing american (very probably racist) politicians talking about europe like there are only blonde and blue eyed people here and imply that that is somehow a sign of people being "better" and more deserving of life than those in any other part of the world that isnt america or europe makes me so unbelievable angry, not just bc its obviously racist but also bc its just not fucking true, there are all kinds of people here in all kinds of color and shape from all kinds of backgrounds, its not a fascists wet dream like they seem to pretend and them using this shit ass fantasy to justify condemming russia but not israel just makes my head want to explode twice as much
as a native, brown haired, brown eyed german with the biggest and bumpiest nose you only see in the before photo of before-and-after-surgery photos, fuck that, free palestine, genocide is wrong not matter what the people being killed look like, all of them deserve to live a long and good life in their homeland
(fyi; i am not saying we dont have a fascism problem here, oh boi, we definitely have, doesnt invalidate my point however.)
(fyi fyi; i am not fishing for sympathy, just needed to vent this bc i read about american politicians doing exactly that and it made me see red)
and to add something more useful to this post, remember your daily click https://arab.org/click-to-help/palestine/

I work as a tour guide, and today I was asked, “Who dropped the nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?” by (wait for it!) American adults.
I can only repeat myself by saying, how can these people be allowed to vote in a country whose politics influence the entire world, if they don’t even know their own (short amount of) history!?

Slowly realizing that I was taught twice as much about the bubonic plague than I was about the shoah. I feel like that's telling. We never learned anything about the shoah specifically, just that the axis and allied powers existed, that Pearl Harbor happened, and we won. Because those are, apparently, the only important parts of WWII

If you think being anti-communist means being pro-capitalist, it means you have a bad case of Western cultural imperialism and never heard of politics other than your own, and you should do something about that internalized colonizer bullshit before trying to call yourself a leftist. And don't ask us to educate you because we're fucking tired and you literally live in the hemisphere of the highest internet penetration and accessibility to the Anglo knowledgesphere. Do your fucking homework.

Music is not beyond politics
I was planning to write this post yesterday. But I felt another wave of emptiness because of the hypocrisy of the world. So here we are now again...
Tumblr media
Ukrainians screamed that she was a Russian-Israeli representative from the start.
Tumblr media
I watched some reactions and...
Tumblr media
Double kill. She is everywhere🙄🤷
Tumblr media
That speaks volumes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But he never apologized to us about interaction with russians🤷
Tumblr media
That situation was one of many reasons why I am sick and tired of the hypocrisy of Eurovision, of the hypocrisy of the world.
When I was 14 and russia occupied my hometown the world was silently watching. Now I see how the world can be united.
Tumblr media
a hypocrite shouts no to war)
During the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, he supported Ukraine and then abruptly started kissing the gums with the not all russians the same)
before going on stage, he shot a video with an Israeli woman, saw that the fans covered him with dicks, and ran to "no to war") how does he sit on two chairs?)
Tumblr media
It's unbelievable how SICK I am of these guys who try to be neutral, but not by shut up, but by saying "well, I'm for everyone, I'm not against anyone, I'm just against the war 🥺"
Amen. That's easy enough to do but no ... stupid people always dare to speak.
OK, enough about them. Let's talk about our representatives.
Tumblr media
I'm late to the party. But this post was for yesterday in my mind.
Tumblr media
Maybe I'm biased but I see us in top 5. I think we definitely deserve it.
Now I want to share my favourite reactions. Where people understand our message, visuals, outfits etc. For me especially was important scene where Jerry are climbing and behind her phosphorus bombs. Those people who realized what it represents.
youtube
That intelligent man realized what that represents. At the moment "My prayers are with you, Ukraine" I almost got goosebumps. I love honest reactions from people who truly mean what they say.
And the end when the audience was shown I very appreciated his comment: "He looks so unimpressed. You gotta clap my guy. You are in the audience, you don't support anyone. They performed for you, you meant clap. Why do you sit with an angry face? Why are you going there in the first place? I got chills towards the end, and that guy kinda ruined it with his face".
Give him some love🫂
youtube
That Filipino also warms my heart. And his comments:
- She actually looks like a warrior ready for a battle, to defend her country.
❗- It actually sounds like a prayer to be. It sounds like a sincere prayer to be.
I literally got chills when he said it.
- We all know what Ukraine is going through. But that song speaks volumes about Ukraine itself.❤️‍🩹🫂
And the last one who understood that's missiles.
youtube
Tumblr media
God, when will I ever experience anything remotely like the delight I experienced with THIS again?
Yes, those times they have charisma, stage presence, attitude, voice, sound, lyrics.
I think this year all of that + staging and message have Ukrainian representatives.
I will watch Eurovision finale. So I hope justice will prevail and fucking Russian-Israeli doesn't got more points than us. But I feel that can be a case...

Amazing video from ChemicalMind compiling interview clips from Gabriel Rockhill. His talks relate back directly to this article showing what an embarrassment the Frankfurt School was:
While watching it I kept feeling like I'd heard of this guy. Then I realized he wrote this absolute banger totally eviscerating Zizek:

For 200 years we had sawed and sawed and sawed at the branch we were sitting on. And in the end, much more suddenly than anyone had foreseen, our efforts were rewarded, and down we came. But unfortunately there had been a little mistake…The thing at the bottom was not a bed of roses after all; it was a cesspool full of barbed wire. ... It appears that amputation of the soul isn't just a simple surgical job, like having your appendix out. The wound has a tendency to go septic.
